Privacy Policy
1. Who We Are
This Privacy Policy applies to the Naratica marketing website at naratica.com and any related subdomains (e.g. demo.naratica.com). The website is operated by TMZ Software ("we," "our," or "us"), the company behind the Naratica news publishing platform.
Naratica is a SaaS platform that enables publishers to build, manage, and grow their digital news operations — including editorial workflows, mobile apps, subscriptions, advertising, and multi-language distribution.
For any privacy-related questions, contact us at: contact@naratica.com
2. Scope of This Policy
This policy covers data processed when you visit naratica.com — for example, when you browse our marketing pages, request a demo, or contact our sales team.
If you are a publisher or newsroom using the Naratica platform to operate your own news site, data processing within that platform is governed by a separate Data Processing Agreement (DPA) signed at onboarding. Your readers' data is processed on your behalf and under your privacy policy, not this one.
3. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
We collect personal data that you voluntarily submit when you:
- Fill in the contact or demo-request form
- Send an email to contact@naratica.com
- Start a free trial (name, work email, publication name)
- Correspond with our team during the sales or onboarding process
Automatically Collected Information
When you visit naratica.com, our hosting infrastructure and analytics tools may record:
- IP address and general geographic region (country / city)
- Browser type, version, and language setting
- Device and operating system
- Pages visited, time on page, and navigation path
- Referring URL (how you arrived at our site)
- Core Web Vitals and performance data
We use privacy-focused analytics that do not build individual user profiles or share data with ad networks.
4. How We Use Your Information
We process your data for the following purposes:
- Responding to enquiries and demo requests — to follow up with you about Naratica pricing, trials, and onboarding.
- Providing a free trial — to set up your trial environment and assist during the trial period.
- Product communications — with your consent, to send release notes, product updates, or relevant news about Naratica.
- Improving our website — to understand which pages and content are most useful so we can improve the experience.
- Legal and compliance obligations — to comply with applicable laws and resolve disputes.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties.
5. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, or another jurisdiction with similar data protection law, our legal bases are:
- Contract — processing necessary to fulfil a free trial or service agreement.
- Legitimate interests — responding to enquiries, improving our website, and communicating about our product with existing contacts.
- Consent — for optional marketing emails; you may withdraw consent at any time by clicking "Unsubscribe" or emailing us.
- Legal obligation — where required by applicable law.
6. Cookies and Tracking
We use a minimal set of cookies on naratica.com:
- Strictly necessary cookies — required for basic site functionality (e.g. CSRF protection, session state). These cannot be disabled.
- Analytics cookies — privacy-preserving, aggregate page-view statistics. No cross-site tracking. You may opt out via your browser's "Do Not Track" setting or by disabling JavaScript.
We do not use advertising cookies, Facebook Pixel, Google Ads remarketing, or any other behavioural tracking on this marketing site.
7. Third-Party Services
We rely on a small number of trusted sub-processors to operate naratica.com:
- Hosting / CDN — our infrastructure provider stores and serves website files. Data is processed in the EU where possible.
- Email delivery — used solely to route enquiry replies and trial notifications; no marketing lists are shared.
- Analytics — aggregate, anonymised traffic statistics; no personal identifiers are shared with the analytics provider.
Each sub-processor is contractually bound to process data only for the purposes we specify and to maintain appropriate security standards.
8. Data Retention
We retain contact and enquiry data for up to 3 years from the last interaction, or until you request deletion — whichever is sooner. Trial account data is deleted within 30 days of trial expiry if no subscription is started. Anonymised analytics data may be retained indefinitely.
9. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including TLS encryption in transit, access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure — request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
- Restriction — ask us to limit how we process your data while a dispute is resolved.
- Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing.
- Withdraw consent — at any time where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, email contact@naratica.com. We will respond within 30 days. If you believe we have not handled your data correctly, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
11. Children's Privacy
The Naratica platform and this website are intended for professional publishers and are not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.
12. International Data Transfers
Our primary infrastructure is located within the EU. If any data is transferred outside the EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses) in accordance with GDPR requirements.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. We will post the revised policy on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. For significant changes, we will notify active trial users and customers by email.
